With #YouFollowMeIFollowYou, artists are invited to subscribe to their peers' YouTube channels. Not just a surge of solidarity and discovery, but also a call to achieve the monetization of the YouTube channels of those taking part in the project.
Responding to the call as well, harpist Julie Campiche said: "I'm not a usually a fan of this kind of initiative, but in this current context where I have more time, I said to myself – why not?".
“In the last 24 hours I have actually had around 80 additional registrations on my YouTube account. But there are messages circulating that YouTube could cancel these registrations considering them as spam. For my part, in order prevent my registrations from being cancelled, I take the time to listen to at least 30 seconds of a video and like another. In the end, it's a good way of discovering lots of new artists. I know I won’t be able to make money tomorrow with YouTube through this initiative, but on the other hand, it expands (at least virtually) my network of colleagues and that’s in itself a super cool thing!”
